The 28th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) will open tomorrow (Sunday) in Purbachal, the permanent location of the month-long event.
The opening ceremony of the grand event will be kicked-off at 10:30 a.m. at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre.
The Export Promotion Bureau and the Ministry of Commerce co-organize the DITF.
As the chief guest, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will open the fair, with State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam presiding over the event.
The showcase usually starts on January 1st, but because of the election on January 7th, it was postponed this year.
During the press conference, State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam stated that the exhibition aims to promote local products and boost exports.
“As part of diversification, we`ll pay closer attention to tannery and jute products,” he added.
In order to facilitate easy access for residents of the capital to the fair, he also advised of a transportation service that runs from Farmgate to Purbachal via Dhaka Elevated Expressway.
In addition to local businesses, six nations—Turkey, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Iran—are participating in the fair. Exhibitors will display their goods in 351 stalls, pavilions, and mini-pavilions.
Additionally, a food court with space for up to 500 people will be there. In addition, there are stores, medical rooms, office spaces, children`s play area, media corners, prayer rooms, and official guestrooms.
There is space in the parking-lot for almost 500 cars.
On regular weekdays, the fair will open at 10 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. The visitors are allowed to stay until 10 p.m. on weekends.
Adult entry fee is set at Tk 50, while children`s fee is Tk 25. Individuals who are freedom fighters and those with physical disabilities can make an entry at free of charge.
Dhaka International Trade Fair was first organized in 1995.
