Four students of Eden College were injured on Monday allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists during an anti quota protest.
According to Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospita (DMCH) police outpost, the injured students were currently receiving treatment at the hospital, with none reported to have serious injuries.
The injured students include Shahinur Sumi, 28, president of the Eden College unit of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front; Saima, 25, a master`s student of the marketing department; Tamanna, 22; and Sanjida, 21, first- and second-year students of the political science department, respectively.
Witnesses reported that while on their way to participate in the program at TSC, activists from the Eden College unit of Chhatra League allegedly attacked them inside the college premises.
The altercation resulted in physical assault, during which Sumi was reportedly struck on the head with a mobile phone.
Initially taken to Dhaka University Medical Center by their classmates, the injured students were later transferred to DMCH for further treatment.
