A long holiday is set to begin across all levels of educational institutions in the country on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha and the summer vacation.

According to the revised 2026 academic calendar, the holiday will officially begin on May 24 for all government and private primary schools, secondary schools, and madrasas.

However, since May 22 and 23 fall on Friday and Saturday weekly holidays, students will effectively finish classes on May 21 and then enter the long vacation.

The information was obtained by reviewing the revised 2026 academic calendars of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, the Technical and Madrasah Education Division, and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.

According to the academic schedule, the holiday will continue until June 4 for primary, secondary, technical, and related educational institutions. Classes will resume on Sunday, June 7, after the weekly holidays on June 5 and 6. This gives students a total break of 16 days, including weekly holidays.

In contrast, madrasas will have a comparatively longer vacation period. For Alia, Dakhil, Alim, Fazil, and Kamil levels, the break will begin on May 24 and continue until June 11. After the weekly holidays on June 12 and 13, classes will resume on Sunday, June 14. As a result, madrasa students will enjoy a continuous break of around 21 to 23 days.

Even after schools reopen in June, there will be several public holidays in July and August. According to the academic calendar, there will be a one-day holiday on July 29 for Asharhi Purnima.

In August, educational institutions will remain closed on August 5 for “July Mass Uprising Day,” August 12 for Akheri Chahar Shomba, and August 26 for Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

In September, additional holidays are scheduled for Janmashtami and Fateha-e-Yazdaham.

Every year, extended breaks around Eid-ul-Azha and the summer vacation are included in the academic calendar to allow students time for rest, family engagement, and mental relaxation.
