The High Court on Thursday ordered the government to pay retirement benefits to teachers and staff members of non-government educational institutions within six months of quitting their jobs.
While delivering the verdict on a writ petition, the HC stated that teachers and staff of non-government educational institutions are victimized and harassed for years in order to receive retirement benefits.
"It should be examined how much a teacher earns. They cannot go from door to door for years in order to get retirement benefits," the HC panel of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque said.
The bench issued the decision during a hearing on a writ filed by 131 teachers and staff in 2019 seeking required guidelines.
