Chittagong, Cox`s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra ports have been advised to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 due to the impact of a deep depression, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
Meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik stated, “This depression is intensifying into a deep depression.”
From the evening of Saturday, May 25, the potential Cyclone Ramal is expected to start affecting coastal and surrounding regions. The full impact might begin from midnight. Therefore, a Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 has been issued for coastal areas.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md Mohibur Rahman on Saturday said cyclonic storm `Remal` is projected to make landfall in the coastal regions of Satkhira in Khulna and Cox’s Bazar in Chattogram by Sunday evening.
The meteorological office forecasts that the depression may turn into a cyclone by noon or afternoon of the same day. This information was shared in the fifth special weather bulletin signed by meteorologist Dr. Md. Bazlur Rashid.
The bulletin mentions that within 48 kilometers of the deep depression`s center, the maximum sustained wind speed is 50 kilometers per hour, increasing to 60 kilometers per hour in gusts or squalls. The sea is rough near the depression`s center.
The fourth special weather bulletin reported that the depression intensified into a deep depression late Friday night.
