Rockets rain down: 11 wounded as Lebanon escalates attack on Israel

On Saturday, rockets fired from Lebanon hit central Israel, injuring 11 people, including one who was in a house that was struck.

This incident comes as fighting between Israeli forces and the Lebanese group Hezbollah continues to escalate, and hopes for a ceasefire, pushed by the U.S., seem to be fading.

Residents in the town of Tira described a chaotic scene filled with dust and screams.

Qasim Mohab, a local resident, shared that they managed to evacuate those inside the damaged home, and fortunately, no one was killed.

At the same time, Hezbollah claimed it had targeted a military base near Tel Aviv.

Israel‍‍`s ambulance service confirmed that the injuries were caused by shrapnel from the rockets.

As the situation developed, air raid sirens continued to sound in northern Israel due to ongoing rocket and drone attacks from Lebanon.

Earlier in the day, Lebanon‍‍`s health ministry reported that Israeli airstrikes had killed 52 people in the Baalbek region, known for its ancient Roman ruins.

In response to the violence, the Israeli military announced that it had killed two Hezbollah commanders in the Tyre area.

Hezbollah began firing rockets at Israel in support of Hamas after Hamas launched a deadly attack on October 7, 2023, which resulted in about 1,200 Israeli deaths and the capture of 251 hostages taken to Gaza.

Since that attack, the humanitarian crisis has worsened significantly, with reports indicating that over 43,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel‍‍`s military operations in Gaza.

At least 2,897 people have also died in Lebanon due to the conflict.

Israeli authorities report that 71 individuals in Israel and the occupied territories have lost their lives due to attacks from Hezbollah.

As the violence continues, both sides remain firm in their positions, with little hope for a peaceful resolution in sight.

The situation is deeply concerning for families living in the affected areas, as the conflict continues to escalate.
