Jhumon Das from Sunamganj who was arrested on the basis of a Facebook post on March 16 last year in a case filed under the Digital Security Act (DSA) has been freed on Tuesday evening.
Jhumon post apparently criticised Hefajat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Haque on Facebook,
He was released from the Sunamganj jail at 6 pm, said Jhumon Das's lawyer Debangshu Shekhar Das.
After release, Jhumon Das was taken to the Police Superintendent's office for security purposes and he will be taken to his house after ensuring adequate security from the SP's office, the lawyer said.
Upon hearing his bail plea, the High Court granted Jhumon Das bail on 23 September.
