Iranian missiles struck two southern Israeli towns late Saturday, injuring dozens and damaging buildings near a sensitive nuclear research area, as tensions escalated further in the ongoing conflict.

Israeli authorities said the strikes hit Dimona and Arad, areas close to the Negev desert’s nuclear facility.

At least 64 people were hospitalised, and several residential structures were damaged in the attack.

The incident marks a significant escalation in the conflict, now entering its fourth week, with concerns growing over regional stability and global energy security.

US President Donald Trump warned that Washington could launch fresh strikes on Iran within 48 hours if Tehran does not ensure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global oil shipments.

In response, Iran warned that any attack on its energy infrastructure would lead to retaliatory strikes on US and Israeli interests across the region.

The Strait of Hormuz has seen major disruption in recent days, with attacks on vessels and rising security threats affecting oil transport and pushing up global energy prices.

The latest strikes follow earlier reports of an attack on Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, though Israel denied involvement. Iranian officials and international monitors said no radiation leak had been detected.

The conflict has widened beyond immediate battle zones, impacting global markets and prompting concern over rising fuel and food prices.

Meanwhile, the United States has moved to reinforce its military presence in the region, deploying additional naval assets and troops as hostilities continue across multiple fronts, including clashes involving Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

Casualties continue to mount, with Iran reporting over 1,500 deaths and Israel confirming multiple fatalities, alongside losses among US forces and civilians in Gulf countries.
