Three people were arrested over an arson attack on a BRTC double-decker bus in Dhaka’s Mirpur area on Tuesday.
The bus was set on fire when it was stuck in traffic at the Mirpur 10 intersection around 9:30 pm on Tuesday.
The arrestees were identified as Md Hafizur Rahman (35) Shahidul Islam (20), and Md Shamim (45).
Faruk Hossain, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter.
One person was arrested on the spot while he was trying to escape after setting fire to the bus. Later, two others were arrested on the basis of information provided by him, said the DMP official.
They are being interrogated at the moment, said Faruk.
Four buses were set on fire in the capital’s Mirpur area ahead of the 48-hour countrywide road-rail-waterway blockade called by the BNP and other like-minded opposition parties.
