The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested former Chittagong Metropolitan Police commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondal.
He was picked up on Monday night from the Sabujbagh area of Dhaka in connection with a case filed under the ICT Act.
Confirming the arrest, DB Joint Commissioner Mohammad Nasirul Islam said he had been taken into custody over the case.
Sources said Abdul Jalil Mondal is from Pabna district and held several important positions during his service. He served as Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and later as Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
He also worked as Additional Director General (Administration) of the Rapid Action Battalion.
Earlier in his career, he served as Superintendent of Police in Nilphamari, Bagerhat and Joypurhat districts.
