Bangladesh is about to introduce something new this Valentine’s Day.
The country will be launching the ‘Valentine’s Medal’, which will be given out for the first time by the Valentine’s Day Celebration Committee in partnership with Jaijaidin and Eastishan Communications.
To kick off this exciting event, a press conference will take place on February 14, at the Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka.
The event will feature Shafique Rehman, a well-known journalist and TV presenter, along with his wife Talea Rehman.
Shafique Rehman holds a special place in the history of Valentine’s Day celebrations in Bangladesh.
He was one of the first to officially celebrate the day in the country back in 1993.
At that time, Rehman’s newspaper ‘Jaijaidin’ played a major role in promoting the day, and the campaign quickly gained popularity among young people.
Since then, the celebration of Valentine’s Day has become widespread across the nation.
Rehman also created the popular television program ‘Lal Golap’ (Red Rose), which is all about sharing messages of love and affection.
