Two people have been confirmed dead following the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft into a building of Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara area.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday afternoon. One person died at the scene, according to the Fire Service, while the second victim succumbed to injuries at the national burn institute later in the day, around 4:25 PM.
At the time of the crash, coaching classes were in session inside the school building, with a large number of students present.
The resulting fire caused severe injuries to many, and at least 28 people have been admitted to the burn institute, several of them in critical condition.
Due to the sudden influx of patients, hospital authorities are facing space constraints and have had to shift patients to other units.
In response to the tragedy, the interim government has declared a one-day state mourning.
