One dead as fighter jet F-7 crashes in Dhaka‍‍`s Diabari area

A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed in the Uttara area of Dhaka on Monday, resulting in at least one confirmed fatality, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The F-7 BGI jet took off at 1:06 PM, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in an official statement. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft went down in the Diabari area of Uttara.

The Fire Service confirmed that one person was killed in the crash. Lima Khan, an on-duty officer at the Fire Service control room, told media that four others were injured and were airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka by a Bangladesh Air Force helicopter.

The aircraft reportedly crashed onto the rooftop of the canteen at Milestone College, according to preliminary information gathered by the Fire Service. Three firefighting units were deployed to the scene and are conducting rescue and recovery operations.

Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Division, Md Mahidul Islam of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed he was heading to the site after receiving reports of the crash.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the incident. Further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
