Following the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft at Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Diabari area, Legal Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul stated that foreign doctors could be brought in to treat severely burned students if necessary. He also mentioned the possibility of sending critically injured victims abroad for treatment.
Speaking to reporters on Monday afternoon after visiting the victims undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Nazrul said, “The burn institute has assured us they are fully prepared with all necessary arrangements. However, if needed, we will bring in medical experts from abroad.”
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR), the F-7 BGI fighter training jet crashed shortly after takeoff at 1:06 PM on Monday. The aircraft went down onto an academic building of the school, immediately catching fire. At least 19 people have been confirmed dead, and more than 50 others—most of them students—were injured or severely burned.
“We will leave no stone unturned in the treatment and rehabilitation of the injured,” Nazrul assured. “But no matter what we do, the grief and loss we’ve suffered today cannot be compensated.”
He added that the Chief Adviser has been closely monitoring the situation and reiterated the government’s commitment to support the victims and their families.
“This tragic and heartbreaking incident must be investigated,” Nazrul said. “We will take all necessary steps to determine what caused it and to prevent such disasters in the future.”
