Police foil Jatiya Party rally using water and sound grenades

Police intervened at a Jatiya Party workers’ rally held in front of the party’s central office in Kakrail, deploying hot water, colored water, and several sound grenades to disperse the crowd.

The incident occurred around 3:45 PM on Saturday at Kakrail Mor, where a large number of party leaders and activists had gathered for the rally. Eyewitnesses said tensions escalated when police suddenly set up barricades, leading to brief scuffles between law enforcement and the participants.

According to police, the action was necessary because the rally caused traffic disruptions on the street without prior permission. Sound grenades were deployed to bring the situation under control. No casualties have been reported so far.

Meanwhile, Jatiya Party members claimed they were holding a peaceful rally when police suddenly attacked with water cannons and repeatedly fired sound grenades. They alleged that attempts to negotiate with police were ignored and that authorities engaged in provocative behavior.

Following the incident, tensions spread across the Kakrail area, prompting additional deployment of law enforcement personnel in and around the neighborhood.

No arrests have been reported, and police stated that the situation is currently under control.
