2 CU students on life support, another shifted to Dhaka for advanced treatment

Two students of Chittagong University (CU), critically injured in a recent clash on campus, have been placed on life support at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Parkview Hospital in Chattogram city.

The students are Imtiaz Ahmed of the International Relations department and Mamun Mia of the Sociology department. Both underwent surgery on Sunday night and have been on life support since then, hospital authorities confirmed.

Doctors at the ICU said Mamun’s condition has shown some improvement, and his life support may be withdrawn by Monday evening. However, Imtiaz remains in critical condition.

Mohammad Amin, ICU consultant at Parkview Hospital, said, "Both students suffered severe head and brain injuries, along with heavy bleeding. While Mamun is responding better now, Imtiaz’s situation is still extremely concerning."

Apart from them, six other students—Sadid Mahbub, Mizanur Rahman, Md. Saiful, Rohan, Baharul Islam, and Kamal Uddin—are undergoing treatment at Parkview’s casualty ward with injuries to their hands and legs. Their condition is reported to be stable.

Meanwhile, another student, Naimul Islam of the Islamic Studies department, who was critically injured, was admitted to National Hospital on Sunday. Following surgery, he was transferred to Dhaka at around 10 pm for advanced treatment, hospital officials said.
