At least four people have been killed in two separate road mishaps in Sherpur and Khagrachari districts.
A man and his 11-year-old son riding a bycycle died after being hit by a speeding truck in Nakla upazila of Sherpur on Tuesday morning as UNB reports.
The deceased were identified as Hanif Mia, 42, a farmer, and his son, Piyash, a student of Class V, both residents of Kalapara village in the upazila.
The accident occurred around 7.30am as Hanif was taking Piyash to school on his bicycle, police said.
"The Sherpur-bound speeding truck hit the bicycle from behind near Rais Uddin Academy," said Md Mushfiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Nakla police station.
Hanif died on the spot, while Piyash succumbed to his injuries at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital, said the OC.
Meanwhile, two people were killed and three others injured when a log-laden truck overturned on the busy Mahalchari-Jaliyapara road in Guimara upazila of Khagrachari early Tuesday.
The deceased are Md Raju, 35, and Md Ilias, 36, two workers from Gacchabil village in Manikchari upazila.
The accident occurred around 7am when the truck driver lost control of the overloaded vehicle, police said.
