Train communication between northern part of the country with Dhaka and southern districts resumed around six hours after a freight train derailed in Lalpur upazila of Natore district on Wednesday afternoon.
Zia Uddin, master at Abdulpur Railway Junction, said the rail operation resumed around 5:45 pm after the derailed bogies were removed from the rail tracks.
Moreover, a four-member body led by Divisional Transport (Pakshi) Officer Anowar Hossain was formed to investigate the incident but no timeframe was set to submit its report.
Two bogies of a Dhaka-bound rice-laden freight train veered off the tracks at Abdulpur Railway Junction signal point, halting the train movement around 12:30 pm.
Khulna-bound Roket Mail train from Chilahati and Rajshahi-bound ‘Barendra Express’ train were stranded at Natore station following the derailment, causing suffering to the commuters.
