In the middle of the month, a zebra foal was born in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur.
According to the park's in-charge Assistant Conservator of Forest Rafiqul Islam, the number of zebras has increased to 26 with the most recent one.
The authorities said that they have not yet been able to determine the sex of the baby zebra.
The official claimed that for the last two weeks leading up to delivery, the mother zebra was kept in a relatively cool location inside the park. He stated that the foal is thought to have been born in the middle of this month.
However, the official stated that the matter was kept under wraps for security reasons.
He said, "The other zebras in the herd also look after the baby zebra."
According to Anisur Rahman, the safari park's wildlife supervisor, zebra foals take breast milk for seven to eight months. The young zebras like being with the herd.
Additionally, he continued, other flock members watch out for the security of newcomers.
The animal typically has a 20-year lifespan. Anisur Rahman noted that there is evidence of the animal surviving for up to 40 years in the prohibited area.
Sources from the park claim that since 2013, the zebras have been imported from South Africa via Falcon Traders, a livestock importer.
