Two farmers lost their lives and four others were injured after a lightning strike hit a field in Kharibaria village of Shailkupa Upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The victims were identified as Apu Biswas, 20, son of Prakash Biswas of Kharibaria, and Shushil Biswas, 40, from Laxmipur village.
According to police, the incident happened while a group of farmers were working in an open field when sudden lightning struck the area. Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir Molla of Shailkupa Police Station confirmed the details.
Four other farmers who were injured in the incident were quickly taken to Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Doctors at the hospital said the injured victims suffered serious burn injuries from the lightning strike.
The tragic incident has left the local community in shock.
