Muhammad Yunus has returned to the Yunus Centre after 18 months following his stint as chief advisor to the interim government.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, the Yunus Centre said he was received by long-time colleagues when he arrived at its office at Telecom Bhaban in Mirpur in the morning.
He later met representatives of the Grameen organisations. The centre’s managing director and advisers were also present at the meeting. Discussions reportedly focused on ongoing activities and future plans of the organisations.
The Yunus Centre said the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate plans to return to his Gulshan residence later this month.
An interim government led by Yunus was formed on Aug 8, 2024, three days after the Awami League government fell amid a student-led mass uprising. Eighteen months later, the administration handed over power to the newly elected government following the 13th national parliamentary election.
