Railway employees in Natore blocked railway tracks on Thursday to demand the immediate implementation of the ninth pay scale.
The protest began around 10:00am at Natore Railway Station, where workers from the Railway Engineering Department held a rally.
Later, they sat on the tracks, bringing train movement to a halt.
As a result, the inter-city Chilahati Express, traveling from Chilahati to Dhaka, was stuck at the station.
Train services resumed after about 30 minutes when the protesters cleared the tracks.
During the demonstration, Mizanur Rahman, central president of the Railway Engineering Department Employees Association, along with financial secretary Robiul Islam and other leaders, addressed the workers.
They called on the government to implement the ninth pay scale without further delay.
