No scope to deny people’s suffering: Commerce Minister

The price of edible oil is yet to decline despite the price dropped in the international market as the dollar price is high, said commerce minister Tipu Munshi.

As a result, the price of imported daily commodities is increasing. The tariff commission is working to fix the new price in line with with the global market. Besides, the reduction of prices in the global market also impacted the local market to some extent, he said.

The minister was speaking to journalists at his Rangpur residence on Sunday.

“Recession is a global trend. Therefore, the price of essentials is increasing all over the world. Our country is also impacted. So, there is no opportunity to deny the misery of the commoners. The suffering of people increased. The government is working to eliminate the suffering,” the minister said.

Responding to a question from the reporters the minister said, “The ministers and MPs are in heaven---BNP’s such allegation is not true. Gaining heaven is not possible while you are alive. Heaven or hell is a matter of afterlife.”
