Security has been tightened at the Akhra of Baul emperor Fakir Lalon Shah in Cheuriya, Kumarhati Upazila, Kushtia.
On Saturday (6 September) after 11:00 a.m., police were deployed at the main entrance of Lalon Akhra.
Police said the deployment is part of increased security measures in the district following incidents in Rajbari, including an attack at a shrine yesterday.
Around 3:30 p.m., a reporter entering the Akhra spoke with Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Alam Hossain near the Golghar on the right side of the main gate. When asked about the reason for the police presence, ASI Hossain said, “As you know, an incident occurred at a shrine in Rajbari yesterday. Most likely, additional personnel were sent as a precaution.”
Kushtia Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Mizanur Rahman told reporters that heightened security has been implemented due to certain ongoing issues.
