A deadly road accident in Cumilla’s Daudkandi left seven people dead after a rice-laden truck crashed into a roadside ditch early Tuesday.
The accident took place around 3:00am on the Dhaka–Chattogram highway while the truck was travelling towards Chattogram from Dinajpur, said highway police inspector Iqbal Bahar.
The vehicle reportedly lost control and skidded off the road before plunging into the ditch.
Seven unidentified men died on the spot, while six others were injured. Police said 13 people were travelling on top of the truck, and many of them became trapped underneath after the crash.
The accident caused temporary disruption to traffic on the busy highway.
Police are working to identify the victims and looking into the cause of the incident.
