A six-year-old girl’s body from among the three children who went missing after a speedboat sank in the Bay of Bengal during a storm in Sandwip of Chittagong was recovered from the coast in Urirchar Union on Friday.
However, the body couldn’t be identified immediately, said the fire service.
Kiriti Ranjan Barua, station officer of Sandwip Fire Service and Civil Defense, said they recovered the body from the coast in the Urirchar area, 25 km from Guptachhora Ghat in the morning.
“This body may be of one of the missing twin sisters Adifa and Aliva,” he said.
The family has been informed, they will identify the body, he added.
Two other children, one of the twins and Saikat, are still missing.
On Wednesday, the speedboat with 20 passengers sank in the sea during a storm while heading towards Guptachara ghat in Sandwip from Kumira in Sitakunda, said Zonal commander of Coast Guard East Zone, Captain Kazi Shah Alam.
Coast Guard members recovered 12-year-old girl Anika’s body after the accident.
Local people managed to rescue 16 other passengers of the speedboat.
