Vehicular movement has resumed on Dhaka-Rangpur route today as the transport workers in northern regions called off the strikes, according to media reports.
Transport workers in Rangpur had been observing the strikes pressing home their five-point demands including disbursement of unpaid salaries Since Tuesday.
The workers canceled the strike last night after a meeting with district administration, metropolitan police and bus owners, with Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Asib Ahsan in the chair.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) of Rangpur, AWM Raihan Shah, said that the decision to withdraw the strike was taken following a discussion on the demands of the workers.
Keeping all the commuters in helpless state, the workers, drivers, helpers and supervisors of all buses of Rangpur, started the strike without any prior notice on Tuesday morning.
