Two motorcyclists were killed after a truck hit their motorcycle at Shanir Akhra in the Jatrabari area of Dhaka early Sunday.
The victims were identified as Khairul Hossain, 22, a second-year student of Bhashantek Government College, and Mohammad Yeasin, 27.
Khairul was the son of Harun Mia from Kishoreganj, while Yeasin was the son of Foyez Uddin from Laxmipur.
Both were living in the Bhashantek area of the capital.
According to police, the accident happened around 11:00pm when the truck struck their motorcycle as they were returning to Dhaka from Noakhali after attending a wedding.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police camp, said the two were seriously injured in the crash and were rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. Doctors declared them dead at around 12:30am.
Police later seized the truck involved in the accident, but the driver and helper fled the scene. No arrests have been made so far.
