The Awami League is preparing to pay tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dhaka on August 15 and the party has sought permission in this regard from the newly formed interim government to ensure security, the party`s joint general secretary, Mahbubul Alam Hanif told BBC Bangla on Monday.
Hanif said, "For the security of that area, a letter has been sent to the home adviser on behalf of the party. We hope that permission will be granted”.
Earlier, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina left for India after signing the resignation letter at Bangabhaban on August 5 in the face of the student uprising.
Meanwhile, ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina`s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy has urged the people of the country to pay their tributes peacefully to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members on 15 August at Dhanmondi 32.
He alleged that conspiracy is on to erase the memory of Bangabandhu from Bangladesh.
“Let the paying tribute of your and mine is the protest of that,” he said on his verified Facebook page.
On the same page, in a video message, he mentioned that the historical house of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi 32 has been burnt down to ashes.
“I will not call them protestor, I will call them mob. They burnt down the house of the Father of the Nation,” he said.
