The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has cancelled its previously announced rally in Dhaka, scheduled for Tuesday, marking the party’s 47th founding anniversary. The decision was made to avoid causing public inconvenience, party leaders said on Monday.
Speaking to journalists, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “The rally planned in Dhaka for our founding anniversary has been cancelled. Instead, an alternative program will be organized by Dhaka North and South BNP units.”
The alternative initiative will focus on cleanliness drives across the city, including clearing drains, canals, ponds, and other public areas. Party leaders and workers themselves will carry out the activities.
Rizvi added, “We do not want to increase the hardships of the public. With traffic congestion and daily difficulties in Dhaka, we have opted for this alternative program instead of holding a rally.”
