The BNP has expressed disappointment over the government`s failure to announce a clear roadmap for the upcoming national election.
Despite a recent meeting between the Chief Adviser and political party leaders, no specific timeline was shared, raising concerns within the party.
At an emergency press conference in Gulshan, BNP leaders stated that without a concrete plan for a fair election by December, continued cooperation with the interim government would be difficult.
BNP Standing Committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain read a statement criticizing the government`s vague and confusing communication following the political dialogue.
He said the absence of neutrality and weak governance has led to public doubt.
Mosharraf emphasized that political reforms and election processes can proceed simultaneously, while trials of those accused of crimes against humanity should continue.
The BNP rejected the government’s claims that external forces are disrupting governance, stating such failures stem from internal issues.
The party called for immediate declaration of a transparent electoral roadmap to counter any foreign interference and restore stability.
Mosharraf also stressed the need for broad national unity against fascism and expressed hope that Ishraque Hossain would soon be sworn in as mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation. Several senior BNP leaders were present at the event.
