BNP rejects Indian newspaper interview attributed to Mirza Fakhrul

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has dismissed as “false and fabricated” an interview published by a Kolkata-based Bengali daily, Ei Samay, claiming to feature the party’s secretary general, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, signed by BNP Assistant Office Secretary Taiful Islam Tipu, the party said the report titled “Fakhrul Wants Awami League and Jatiya Party in Elections,” published on Tuesday, was entirely baseless.

According to the statement, Mirza Fakhrul has not given any interview to any foreign media in recent times.

“This imaginary interview has been circulated deliberately to tarnish the image of the party and its secretary general,” the BNP said.

The statement added that the “fabricated comments” were intended to create confusion and doubt among the people of Bangladesh. It urged party leaders, activists, and the public not to be misled by the “false claims” published in the foreign Bengali daily.
