Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has invited the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami for meetings on Saturday evening. Both parties confirmed the invitation separately on Friday.
According to relevant sources, the Chief Adviser is scheduled to meet with the BNP at 7:30 p.m. and with Jamaat-e-Islami at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
However, a member of the BNP Standing Committee said on Friday night that the party`s participation in the meeting would be confirmed later.
Previously, Jamaat-e-Islami had requested a meeting with the Chief Advisor. The Chief Advisor’s office later conveyed informally that the meeting would take place on Saturday night. Jamaat’s deputy leader Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher confirmed this information.
He stated that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss the current situation with the Chief Advisor.
According to sources, Jamaat believes that the resignation of the Chief Advisor is not a solution. They support holding the upcoming election under Dr. Yunus’s leadership.
Earlier, Jamaat’s chief, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, had called for an all-party dialogue as a way to overcome the current political crisis.
The upcoming meetings are expected to cover a range of pressing issues, including the political situation, the election process, judicial matters, institutional reforms, and efforts to restore unity among the political forces that supported the July uprising.
