State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat today said the countrymen have rejected BNP and their allies, who called to boycott the poll, through voting, reports BSS.
"I think the election was a befitting reply to those persons and terrorists who called to boycott the poll of January 7 last," he told a mass reception at Manikdi Adorsho Bidyaniketon School and College ground this evening organised by Awami League ward 15 unit of north city.
The state minister said the voters and the countrymen have joined poll with festivity despite arson terrorism and threats of miscreants. "We gave a befitting reply to conspirators from home and abroad through the election. And those who wanted to foil the elections have been defeated," Arafat said.
He said the countrymen have rejected the BNP as they killed people through arson attacks at trains and public transports. People were poll-oriented despite BNP`s arson attacks and hartal, he added.
The state minister said the ongoing development will be continued in next five years also under the supervision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The nation is progressing indomitably and peace has been prevailing across the country under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said Arafat.
He urged all to remain alert against those who destroy peace through hurling petrol bombs and killing people alive.
He said everyone should remain united to strengthen the hand of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resist the arson terrorists.
Arafat extended thanks to the people including voters of his constituency.
