Dr Yunus starts dialogue with political parties

Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus sat in a meeting today with the BNP in light of the announcement of reform commissions. 

The dialogue commenced at 2:30 PM at the State Guest House Jamuna.

BNP delegation headed by its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, accompanied by standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Abdul Moin Khan, and Salahuddin Ahmed.

This marks the beginning of the interim government‍‍`s dialogue with various political parties, starting with the BNP. 

According to government sources, Yunus and other advisers are participating from the government side, marking the third phase of dialogue with political groups.

The interim government has already established five commissions focused on reforming the electoral system, police, judiciary, public administration, and anti-corruption institutions. 

A constitutional reform commission is also set to be formed soon.

The dialogue will primarily explore how political parties can collaborate with these reform commissions, as well as address the overall situation in the country, including law and order. 

Today‍‍`s discussions will also involve Jamaat-e-Islami and three other political parties, along with various allied groups.

Following the BNP meeting, dialogues are scheduled with Jamaat-e-Islami at 3:00 PM, Ganatantra Mancha at 3:30 PM, the Left Democratic Alliance (LDA) at 4:00 PM, Hefazat-e-Islam at 4:30 PM, and Islami Andolon at 5:00 PM.

Notably, the Awami League and its allies from the 14-party coalition, who were removed during a student-led uprising, have not been invited to the dialogue, nor has the Jatiya Party, with no decision made on their potential participation.
