A court has ordered the seizure of four apartments in Dhaka, and three cars that belong to former state minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid.

The court also ordered the freezing of 70 bank accounts belonging to Nasrul Hamid, which contain Tk 379.6 million, according to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), reports bdnews24.com.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Ghalib issued the order on Sunday.

One of the apartments is situated at Priyoprangon in Dhaka’s Poribagh, while the three others are in Banani’s PP Tower. These structures are valued at Tk 8.5 million.

The three cars are valued at Tk 24.7 million.

ACC Assistant Director Minhaz Bin Islam appealed to the court to order the seizures.

In its petition, the ACC said that a large amount of movable and immovable assets owned by Nasrul Hamid “can possibly be transferred to others’ ownership through handovers, shifting, legal deeds, or other processes. It is necessary to seize the immovable assets under his name and freeze the movable assets to ensure proper investigation.”

The same court issued an order on Feb 19 to freeze 20 bank accounts of Nasrul Hamid and his wife Seema Hamid.
