A Dhaka court has sent two BNP leaders including acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and standing committee member Mirza Abbas, rejecting their bail petitions in connection with a case filed with the Paltan police station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order on Friday.
Earlier, around 4:00 pm, the Investigation Officer in the case Inspector Tarikul Islam produced the accused before the court and pleaded to keep them behind the bars.
Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukdar and Omar Faruk Faruki moved for the petitioners while Dhaka Public Prosecutor (PP) Md Abdullah Abu stood for the state.
Earlier, a team of DB police picked up Mirza Fakhrul at around 3.15 am on Friday from his Uttara residence and another group picked up Mirza Abbas from his Shahjahanpur residence.
