In a major political development, Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has met Opposition leader and key patron of the party, Begum Rowshan Ershad, at the latter’s Gulshan residence.
Quader told reporters that it was a courtesy call on Rawshan, who returned home last month after long treatment in Thailand.
Mujibul Haque Chunnu, the secretary-general of the party, accompanied Quader during the meeting on Sunday.
Chunnu said that during the hour-long meeting, they invited Rowshan to join the party’s founding anniversary to be held on January 1.
Jatiya Party Joint Secretary-General and Rangpur-3 MP Rahgir Almahi Ershad also joined the talks.
Sources said the party leaders also discussed the by-polls to the seats of the national parliament that fell vacant after six BNP lawmakers resigned earlier this month.
