Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has expressed satisfaction over the announcement of a roadmap for the upcoming national election, made by Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
In a statement issued on Friday, June 6, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman welcomed the declaration made during Dr. Yunus’ national address, in which he stated that the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) election will be held on a date in the first half of April 2026.
Dr. Rahman noted that this announcement has brought a sense of reassurance to the public. He expressed hope that the interim government would take all necessary steps to ensure that the election is conducted in a free, fair, neutral, and credible manner within the declared timeframe.
He further stated that the nation`s pressing desire for reform, justice, and credible elections should guide the interim administration`s actions. He also underscored the importance of the "July Accord" in helping return the country to a sound democratic path.
