Political tension escalates, emergency meeting at Jamuna today

Amid ongoing disagreements among political parties over the implementation of the July Charter, the country’s political atmosphere has suddenly heated up.

In response to the situation, Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Muhammad Yunus is set to hold emergency meetings today (Sunday) with BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizens’ Party (NCP).

The development follows Friday night’s clash between activists of the Jatiya Party and Gono Odhikar Parishad, during which Nurul Haque, President of Gono Odhikar Parishad, was severely injured in a baton charge by police and army personnel.

The incident has drawn condemnation and protests from nearly all political parties, including the interim government.

On Saturday, a meeting of the interim government, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Yunus, decided to launch a judicial inquiry into the attack on Nurul Haque.

According to the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, the meetings will take place at the Chief Adviser’s official residence, Jamuna: BNP at 7:30 pm, Jamaat-e-Islami at 4:30 pm, and NCP at 6:30 pm.
