Scout leaders can play active role for future generation: President

President Abdul Hamid has called upon the scout leaders to play an active role in expanding and accelerating the scout movement and turning the next generation into skilled human resources. He made the call in a message on the occasion of Bangladesh Scouts Day on Friday (April 8).

The President mentioned that the theme of this year's Bangladesh Scouts Day, 'Protteke amra porer tore' has come true. On the occasion of Bangladesh Scouts Day, he extended his best wishes and congratulations to all concerned including scout members at all levels.

The President said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman restructured various organizations of the country to reach all the benefits of independence achieved through the sacrifices of 3 million martyrs in the great war of liberation. With the sincere desire of Bangabandhu, a new journey of scouting was started in the country on 6 April 1972 and the Presidential Ordinance was issued in that year with the state recognition of scouting. In this context, the initiative to celebrate 'Bangladesh Scouts Day' on April 6 every year is highly commendable.

Abdul Hamid said that Scouting has been playing a unique role in building a healthy body, beautiful mind, orderly life and volunteering for children, adolescents and youth. Its importance as an institutional education as well as co-educational activities is immense. Bangladesh Scouts is making a positive contribution to develop the youth of the country as honest, virtuous, capable and self-reliant citizens by training them in the scout system.
