The fourth day of the second phase of the National Consensus Commission’s dialogue is underway today, Thursday, June 19, at the Doel Hall of the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
The meeting began at 11:30 AM with the participation of top leaders from various political parties, including the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, NCP, LDP, CPB, AB Party, and the Ganosamhati Andolon.
Today’s discussions are primarily focused on unresolved issues related to the presidential election and the tenure of the prime minister.
The dialogue continues from Wednesday, where discussions on the National Constitutional Council and District Coordination Councils were concluded, but debates over the presidential election remained incomplete.
At the start of the session, the Commission’s Vice President, Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, noted that while consensus has been reached on some topics, several key issues remain unsettled.
He emphasized the need for continued discussions, possibly extending into the following week, to finalize the National Charter by the end of July.
He also called for an honest reflection on past mistakes and urged all parties to cooperate.

Following the session, the Commission’s Vice President Dr. Ali Riaz will brief the media, after which representatives of the participating political parties are expected to address the press.
