BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has suggested that the single leaders and activists of the party not get married during the Awami League government’s tenure as “their wives, too, will be sued.”
He was speaking at a rally in the capital on Wednesday over the arrest warrants against BNP’s Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman in a graft case.
“I’ve many younger brothers, who are not married yet. For them, I have to say something. If you get married, you will face lawsuits and so will your wives,” Abbas said.
Mentioning that all leaders of BNP have embraced the same fate, he said, “Please, don’t tie the knot under the Awami League rule. Your wives will be made accused for no reason.
“If you want to enter the wedlock, please topple the government first,” he added.
