The BNP is holding a black flag march as a simultaneous movement program demanding the resignation of the current government, dissolution of parliament and elections under a non-partisan government.
BNP started this program in Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Branch separately around 3:30 pm on Friday. At the same time, other opposition alliances are carrying out this program as a simultaneous movement.
The leaders and activists of Dhaka Metropolitan South Branch of BNP started joining the black flag procession on Friday after Friday prayers. The leaders and activists of BNP, and allied organizations gathered at certain places with black flags in their hands and marched in sections under the banner of different units. The activists are chanting slogans demanding the release of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
The program was organized from Shyamoli Link Road to Mohammadpur Bus Stand under the initiative of BNP Dhaka Metropolitan North.
BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury led the procession.
Meanwhile, Mirza Abbas, another member of BNP`s standing committee, lead the black flag march from the party`s central office in Nayapaltan to Dayaganj on the initiative of Dhaka Metropolitan South Branch BNP.
Members of the law and order forces are seen in alert position at the intersection of BNP`s black flag procession in the two metropolises of Dhaka.
