An undertaking was given on BNP Chairperson Begum Khaled Zia’s behalf that she will not do politics before her release from jail, senior Awami League leader Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim has claimed.
He said this while taking part in the general discussion on the thanksgiving motion of the President's speech at the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday.
Selim said that Khaleda’s siblings met the prime minister for her release.
“A convict cannot be directly taken home if the person does politics. So, the premier told them that Khaleda won’t be allowed to do so,” he said.
“At that time, they (Khaleda’s siblings) gave undertaking that the BNP chief will not do politics while at home,” Selim furthered.
The Awami League presidium member also came down heavily on the interference of foreign diplomats in the country’s politics.
“They don’t have the right to do that. The people will decide the fate of the country’s politics,” he warned.
