Several new advisors are set to join the interim government, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Sunday evening at the Bangabhaban before President Mohammed Shahabuddin.

According to a report by Prothom Alo, the names of the four new advisors have been confirmed. 

They are: Professor Mohammad Sayedur Rahman, businessman Sheikh Bashir Uddin, film director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, and the Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, Mahfuz Alam.

In addition, former Inspector General of Police Khoda Baksh Chowdhury is also expected to take the oath as a new advisor, a source has confirmed to The Report Live .

Once these five advisors are sworn in, the total number of advisors in the interim government, including Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, will rise to 26.

Dr. Mohammad Sayedur Rahman, a doctor, was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on August 27.

Now, he is being brought into the advisory board. Dr. Rahman is a professor in the Pharmacology Department at BSMMU.

Sheikh Bashir Uddin is the Managing Director of Akij-Bashir Group, one of the country’s leading industrial conglomerates. 

He is the son of Sheikh Akij Uddin.

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki is a renowned film director, widely known for his work in films and television drama over several decades.

Mahfuz Alam, who currently serves as the Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, will also join the advisory board.

Following the fall of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government, the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus took the oath in August. 

After the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina‍‍`s government by the student-led uprising, an interim government was formed on August 8 with Dr. Yunus as the Chief Advisor.

Initially, the government had 17 advisors, including the Chief Advisor. Later, four more advisors were added, bringing the total number of advisors to 21.

There had been suggestions from various quarters to expand the advisory board in order to bring more efficiency and dynamism to the government’s operations.
