Wahid Ibn Reza, who has made a name for himself in Hollywood by working with the industry’s superheroes as a VFX expert, has recently announced that he is currently working on the latest Marvel film titled ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ The Hollywood professional confirmed the news with The Report’s Showbiz team on Thursday (August 26).
Due to several non-disclosure agreements with Marvel Studios and the film currently in post-production, he is not at the liberty to talk details about the project.
He told The Report: “I’ve been working on the project for the past three months as my current employer is part of the post-production team behind Marvel Studios’ latest film ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’”
He also said that he is enjoying the experience very much.
The film is set to release on December 17, 2021.
Wahid is currently based in Canada, and working as a digital production manager at Digital Domain Holdings’ Vancouver branch.
Digital Domain’s network of studios is based in the US, Canada, China and India, which include state-of-the-art performance capture studios, and other major post-production facilities.
He also shared the trailer of the highly anticipated film from his verified Facebook profile on August 24.
He wrote: “I have always been a fan of Spider-Man. Not because he was the first superhero that I read in comics or because his theme song was ridiculously catchy. But because deep down inside, he is a funny kid who is good with science. Add a little caramel and childhood obesity to the mix. In my head, he is me!
“I’ve always wanted to work on Spider-Man. I got a taste of it when I worked in the preschool series, Spidey And His Amazing Friends. And now I get to work on the upcoming movie!
“I’m very proud to share the teaser trailer of the movie I’ve been working on at Digital Domain as a Digital Production Manager for the last three months. It has been an amazing experience so far.
“Can’t wait for this to hit the theatres,” he wrote.
His previous credits include 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' as a project coordinator.
He also worked on Marvel Studios' 'Captain America: Civil War (2016)' and 'Doctor Strange (2016)' during his tenure in the Method VFX Studios.
Wahid worked with the visual effects teams of 'Furious 7' (2015), 'Fifty Shades of Grey' (2015), 'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb' (2014) HBO's 'Game of Thrones', and 'Angry Birds 2' (2019), among other projects.
In 2017, 'Doctor Strange' was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best VFX, which made him a part of an Oscar-nominated team.
He also worked as an associate production manager for the visual effects team at Hollywood’s renowned animation production company Sony Pictures Imageworks.
Wahid is the only child of Former State Minister of Bangladesh Mohammad Rezaul Karim and Advocate Suraya Karim Munny. He has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from BUET and a BFA in Film Production from The University of British Columbia (UBC).
Before moving to North America, Wahid was a familiar face in the Bangladesh entertainment industry. He acted as a lead in various television films and was the lead for a couple of television comedy series.
He also worked as a model, anchor and comedian in front of the screen.
Wahid had the pleasure of working with the country’s legendary author Humayun Ahmed, popular cartoonist Ahsan Habib and ‘Unmaad’ and popular director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and multinational houses such as BBC World Service Trust.
Behind the camera, he worked as head writer for the advertising company Grey World Wide. He also wrote several television films and series for local television networks in Bangladesh.
He is now developing several feature films, including the first-ever featured length 2D animated film in Bangladesh titled “Surviving 71 - An Untold Story of an Unknown War.”
The film started its development phase in 2018 and released the first trailer on March 25, 2019.
The film, based on a true story about Wahid's freedom fighter father, is set to feature Jaya Ahsan, Meher Afroz Shaon, Tanzir Tuhin, Gousul Alam Shawon, Anik Khan, and Wahid Ibn Reza as its voice actors in major roles.
The film's progress slowed down due to a lack of funds.
