Dhaka based film producer Nazrul Islam Raj, the founder of the production company Raj Multimedia, has been detained by Bangladesh Police’s elite anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). He was one of the producers of Pori Moni’s debut film ‘Valobasha Simahin,’ which also starred Anisur Rahman Milon, Zayed Khan, Kazi Hayat in central characters.
A team of RAB raided his house at capital’s Banani around 8 pm on Wednesday (August 4) and detained him right after the raid at Pori Moni’s Banani home.
Major Hussain Raisul Azam Moni, Deputy Director of RAB's Legal and Media Wing, confirmed the news to media outlets about the ongoing raid at his house.
The raid ended around 10pm. Along with Raj, his production manager Sabuj was also arrested. RAB officials claimed to find a lot of " drugs like LSD, foreign liquor and perverted sex equipment including different belts and ropes" at Raj's house.
RAB sources also said that the raid at Raj's home was being held with a lead shared by Pori Moni.
Raj is also an actor and played some small roles in some films and dramas.
Earlier in the same afternoon, RAB raided the house of Dhallywood star Pori Moni and seized a huge amount of liquor from her Banani home. Later on, at 7:30pm she was detained and taken away by RAB officials.
Details of these raids will be informed by a formal press brief by RAB's media wing tomorrow (Thursday, August 5).
