Reigning Copa del Rey holders FC Barcelona became the first team to reach the semifinals on Tuesday after a 2–1 away win over second-division Albacete.

Barcelona took the lead in the 39th minute through Lamine Yamal, who curled a left-foot shot into the far corner after Marcus Rashford won the ball in midfield.

With several changes to the starting lineup, Barcelona struggled early against a well-organized Albacete defense. Rashford sent a low cross across goal in the opening minutes and later missed a clear chance after being set up by Dani Olmo.

Albacete also created opportunities in the first half, forcing saves from Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia after quick breaks and turnovers.

Barcelona doubled their lead in the 58th minute when Ronald Araujo scored with a header from a corner. Robert Lewandowski then missed a good chance to make it 3–0, shooting straight at the goalkeeper.

The game opened up in the later stages. Albacete missed several chances, including a header over the bar and a goal that was ruled out for offside. In the 87th minute, Javi Moreno scored with a diving header to make it 2–1 and set up a nervous finish.

Barcelona held on, with a late goal-line clearance preventing an equalizer and sealing the win.

The remaining quarterfinal matches will be played over the next two days. Alaves host Real Sociedad, while Valencia face Athletic Club on Wednesday. Real Betis play Atletico Madrid on Thursday.
