The second and final Test between Bangladesh and the West Indies is currently being played, with the third day of the match scheduled for Monday evening, December 2.
After the Test series ends, the Bangladesh players won’t have much time to relax.
Immediately after the red-ball series, Bangladesh will face the West Indies in a three-match ODI series, starting on December 8.
However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not yet announced the squad for the upcoming ODI series.
While the squad hasn`t been finalized yet, it`s almost certain that regular captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto will not be part of the team.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz is expected to take over the captaincy in his place.
Although the official squad is still pending, four cricketers are set to leave for the West Indies on Monday, December 2.
Mahmudullah Riyad, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, and Nasum Ahmed will be flying out from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6:30 PM. This was confirmed by a source from the BCB.
The delay in announcing the squad is largely due to injuries affecting several key players.
The team management is dealing with injury concerns regarding three regular players.
Mushfiqur Rahim, for example, was ruled out of the West Indies tour after picking up an injury in the previous series.
There are also doubts about Nazmul Hossain Shanto’s fitness, as he is still recovering from an injury and may not be fully ready for the white-ball series.
Another player, Towhid Hridoy, has also picked up a leg injury while training in his hometown of Bogura, raising further questions about his availability for the series.
The BCB selectors are now waiting for Hridoy’s medical report before making any final decisions. This report is essential for finalizing the squad.
Once the Test match concludes, Bangladesh will take on the West Indies in the ODI series on December 8, 10, and 12, followed by a T20 series on December 16, 18, and 20.
The team is hoping to overcome these injury concerns and put together a strong squad for the upcoming matches.
